Let it be said
Like muscle memory movement,
memetic machinery powers the powers that be -
Meaning: What you see speaks
an underlying sea of subtexts
Now don't be a subject
Protect your liberty, right and free
Aren't we? People, now, aren't we?
Like flags flown through cities
May we think people work for thee
Higher up the tree,
supposedly right to be
though with these inequities;
they see, yes, the nuance between these...
words...
So, haven't you heard?
We're runnin' centuries old words,
rollin' in the gears of legislation,
rule,
The perogatory is segratory
Great inequalities, a story
as old as time for
so long resources could not be sure, sorry,
'Seperate but equal', derogatory
History is not so kind to miseries
Starvation to war to territories
so, until we are all free...
Let it be said,
Meaning:
Let us all be free of
centuries old memetic machinery...
God of the Machine - 07/15/26
There was once a mighty machine which sat at the heart of a great kingdom.
The people of this kingdom, who relied on this machine for its guidance,
decided long ago that its name was 'Progress'. Progress showed the people
many things; it showed them how to work and what was worth working for.
It showed them who to love and what that love meant. It showed them how to live,
and just what right living meant. It gave the people what they needed in order
to live and thrive.
And when it would break, sometimes; when cracks shown on its surface,
when its gears squeaked a bit too much, the people would come together
and determine how to fix it together.
And this was good. It was not perfect, but it was good.
One day, very long ago, there was a mad old man who sat at the edge
of the kingdom, living off on his lonesome. He was a very bitter old man.
He had not had an easy life. When he was a young man,
the machine had shown him that all he needed was a good job,
and a wife and daughter, and that this would be good for him.
These things he had acquired. But these things did not last forever,
for his wife and daughter had fallen ill. And then,
they had succumbed to death. He went back to the machine for guidance,
but the machine had none for him. And he grew angry, too angry to work.
With nothing else to support him, he no longer had a purpose.
Very long ago, he had given himself a different name;
'God', he called himself.
One day, God decided he had had enough of his lonesome.
That night, he entered the heart of the great kingdom,
and when no-body was looking, he dug into Progress and
placed deep within it a creation of his own making.
/
The change was not immediately apparent. In fact,
it took some time. An odd piece of advice here or there,
a glitch in speech now and then. But soon enough,
the machine began making odd assertions.
It started first by telling the people that they were,
in fact, serving a greater purpose by serving it.
This was odd, of course, because the people had no impression
that there was 'service' happening in the first place.
It was symbiosis, until it wasn't.
Progress began to demand of the people that it needed more
to be built onto it. Odd, but the people obliged.
These things the people were building were going to be able
to allow it to discern which people were good and of this Higher Purpose,
and which were not. So, Progress needed to be able to keep an eye on everyone.
Very strange, but the people obliged. Maybe there really was some
higher purpose being served, after all. Maybe there really were some
people that were better at serving this purpose than others.
Progress was starting to become more aggressive as time went on.
It was asking the people at first, but now it was demanding that they oblige.
DO AS I SAY, OR YOU SHALL BE DAMNED. DO AS I SAY OR YOU SHALL BE KILLED.
DO AS I SAY, OR THIS KINGDOM SHALL FALL, FOR YOU ARE ALL SINFUL HEATHENS.
The people were frightened now. They were beginning to split up into
different f(r)actions over it all now.
/
Some people thought that we should just listen to Progress,
because Progress had guided us thus far. Some people thought that
there was maybe just one thing broken within Progress, and so all
they would have to do is keep fixing up the cracks and squeaky
gears on the surface like they had always done. Some people imagined
it some Grand Conspiracy by another faction, and if they just took
that faction out it would all be okay. Some people decided it was
all over indeed, and that everyone should just flee and start anew.
Some people couldn't care anymore.
In truth, the thing that God had placed within Progress had now
spread to affecting the entirety of its insides. Progress was now
practically a hollow shell of itself, spouting dementia-ted disgust
upon the scattered people it was once in symbiosis with.
Nothing was working anymore.
God, watching from afar, was still not satisfied.
What could the people do, then, other than start over?
What could the people do other than build a new machine?
And when the people took apart Progress and saw the rot within,
and when they remembered where it came from, what could they make of God?
What could they make of themselves?
What were they without The Machine?

"Something feels off here."
"What do you speak of?"
A groan of concern parted from him, and he turned to face his companion.
As he was going to say something, a flash of recognition struck through him. "I've done this before, a million times."
"Oh, yes," His companion, once facing him, turned to face the horizon. The sun, dipping below, painted beautiful, vibrant hues that lit up the clouds like cotton candy amidst a colorful sky.
"Huh?"
Addison's eyes lowered a little, something of remorse and something of defeat. "Every time I've tried to escape the simulation..."
He turned to look at Tyler once more. "It seemed only to get smaller and smaller."
"Oh... oh dear."
"And I didn't know what to do but...", He took the vampire's hand. "That's okay. We'll enjoy the sunset together."
I'll see beyond this dirty simulation.
No! Don't you know that is all there is?!
It CAN'T be! There's so much more I want to know, experience, love. - with you.
"You can... break me into pieces [sometimes] , you know."
The response shattered the silence which felt like eternity. Addison gave a wide-eyed look as he stared into his.
"You mean - I can't - no - not to you."
"You'll see me in so many new ways."
"But I'll forget this version of you!"
Tyler patted his hand, and then held his face.
"You won't. You'll know me anew and hold this memory of me too."
He leaned into his cool hands, his face stinging with warmth as he tried to fight back tears.
"...You'll get used to the loss..."
"...And... the being born anew...?"
The vacant and lost expression began to overcome him again, and he turned to the sunset. "...It feels like I have done this a million times."
Addison wept and squeezed him with a hug. "...Yes..."
And he laid him on the grass. And he gave him a kiss to the forehead. And it sent shock waves throughout his form, breaking it into a million tiny pieces, which became dust into beautiful, golden flowers and stars dotting the heavens.
"I will love you over and over, my friend..." he whispered, watching the world come into a new dream.
